Grand Assembly of the Philippines and Guam

International Order of the Rainbow for Girls

Grand Assembly of the Philippines & Guam

Rainbow Assemblies are sponsored by Chapters of the Order of the Eastern Star, Masonic Lodges, or other affiliated or appendant Bodies of Freemasonry. The Sponsoring Body selects those who will serve on the Advisory Board. The Advisory Board is comprised of Majority Members, Master Masons, Eastern Stars, Amaranth, and member’s Parents, Grandparents, and Legal Guardians.

An assembly is presided over by a Worthy Advisor. A Mother Advisor is selected from among the members of the Advisory Board. She works hand-in-hand with the girls and allows them to preside over the affairs of the Assembly with her direction.

The girls of the various Rainbow Assemblies engage in a variety of activities - service projects, charitable activities, etc.

The Grand Assembly of the Philippines and Guam was formed in 1989. It's affairs are under the direction of the Supreme Inspector or Deputy, who works with the Grand Executive Committee to conduct all business including preparations for the Grand Assembly Sessions which is a biennial affair in this jurisdiction.

History of Rainbow in the Philippines & Guam

The first Assembly in the Philippines was constituted in 1948 and was known as Manila Assembly  No. 1. This consisted of all American girls with Mrs. Beth Barnes as Mother Advisor. This Assembly  was sponsored by Mayon Chapter No.1, Order of the Eastern Star. The formation of this group kindled interest in the Order so that in 1950, Perla Assembly No. 2 was instituted, sponsored by the Perle de Oriente Lodge No. 1034.  Most of the girls of Manila Assembly No. 1 were daughters of American servicemen. When crisis  broke out in the Korean peninsula, most of these families were pulled out of the Philippines by the U.S. government. Uncertainty in the business community further aggravated the situation which led Manila Assembly No. 1 to surrender its charter. Eventually, Perla Assembly became Assembly No. 1 in the Philippines.

In 1957, American servicemen who were Freemasons, organized an Assembly inside  Clark Air Base in Pampanga. Clark Assembly No.2 was sponsored by Mt. Arayat Chapter No.1, Order of the Eastern Star.

Two years later, another Assembly was organized in Cavite City, which is 40 miles from Manila and host to an American Naval Station. The Cavite Assembly No. 3 was composed of  American and Filipino girls. For 10 years, the  Rainbow activities has been limited to these three  Assemblies until Tierra Alta Assembly No. 4 was  organized on August 18, 1979. This assembly was sponsored by  the Masonic District of Cavite, but was endoresed to  Primera Luz Filipina Lodge in Binakayan, Cavite.
